Meapta Founder, Monica VanBuskirk, has a proven track record for leading growing organizations through disruption, and implementing high-value strategic initiatives. During her 20-year career in health care finance and technology, she has held seats at the table from the provider, payor and regulator roles, and most recently was Chief Policy Officer at Colorado’s individual insurance marketplace where she oversaw a 26% increase in enrollees.

Monica has served on several boards and committees responsible for technical assessment and business planning including the Colorado Women’s Chamber Policy Committee, USA Rugby’s Executive Communication Committee, and as a Governor’s Appointee to Colorado’s Health Care Cost Analysis Task Force.

Since moving to Denver in 2013, she has developed and managed business strategy at the Department of Health Care Policy & Financing, Denver Health, Kaiser Permanente and Colorado Permanente Medical Group. Before Colorado, she supported the Affordable Care Act rollout at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Innovation Center, also the launch of cost effectiveness research at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. 

Monica earned her bachelor’s degree from Smith College and holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from Duke University where she was awarded the Asa T. Spaulding Sr. Award for Leadership. She is currently honored to be part of a two-mom, bilingual family in Lowry where her grandfather previously served in the Air Force.
