Monica VanBuskirk, MBA

MEAPTA, Inc. Founder, Monica VanBuskirk, has a proven track record for leading growing organizations through disruption, and high-value implementation. During her 20-year career in health care finance and technology, she has been in provider, payer and regulator seats at the table, and most recently was Chief Policy Officer at Colorado’s individual insurance marketplace where she oversaw a 26% increase in enrollees.

Monica has served on several boards and committees including the Prime Health Board, Colorado Women’s Chamber Policy Committee, USA Rugby’s Executive Communication Committee, and appointed Vice Chair of Colorado’s Health Care Acquired Infection Advisory Board.

Since moving to Denver in 2013, she developed and managed business strategy at the Department of Health Care Policy & Financing, Denver Health, Kaiser Permanente and Colorado Permanente Medical Group. Before Colorado, she supported the Affordable Care Act rollout at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), also cost effectiveness research at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. 

Monica earned her bachelor’s degree from Smith College and holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from Duke University where she was awarded the Asa T. Spaulding Sr. Award for Leadership. She is currently honored to be part of a two-mom, bilingual family in Lowry where her grandfather was previously stationed with the Air Force.
